Much in Ronda is changing....for the good
1 Railway
• The railway currently passes southwest through the town, then turns though a tight bend, runs north down to Arriate before turning back southwest to Algeciras. It is currently being upgraded to take an AVE (TGV) with a Spanish gauge line alongside for freight.
This means that the line which passes through Ronda, and past the finca will no longer be used.
In other places the track bed has been converted to a Via Verde, a path for walkers, cyclists and horses. No motor vehicles allowed. (see for example www.andalucia.com/rural/walking/viasverde-olvera.htm for details of the Olvera to Puerto Serrano route )
It cannot yet be confirmed, but it is very likely that this will happen with the present line past the Finca, creating many new business opportunities.
• The start of the AVE service will put Sevilla, Madrid and Toledo in easy reach for weekenders from those cities, particularly in the summer when people try to escape the heat of the central plain.
• Day trips fo Cordoba and Sevilla, Gibraltar, and to Malaga itself will become even easier than they currently are.
2 Road to Coast
There are promises to upgrade the present road to San Pedro, cutting some fo the worst corners and making overtaking and crawler lanes in key places.
